Base Salary
$120k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve scalable, reliable, secure distributed systems.
- Lead technical design and architecture for complex product features and services.
- Partner with Product Management, Data Science, Engineering, and Platform teams on strategy, requirements, and execution.
- Drive end-to-end delivery of critical projects from design reviews and implementation through monitoring, experimentation, and operational excellence.
- Use telemetry, A/B experimentation, and customer insights to improve product health and customer experience.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance through code reviews, design reviews, and best practices.
- Influence technical direction across multiple teams and contribute to platform-wide architectural decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree with 6+ years of experience, or a bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience includes 4+ years building scalable, secure, high-performance backend products and services.
- Demonstrated technical design, problem-solving, debugging, software delivery, and complex initiative ownership skills.
- Knowledge of distributed systems design and Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of modern web technologies, service-oriented architectures, observability, reliability engineering, and data-driven development.
- Experience with data-intensive applications and AI/ML-enabled products is preferred; online advertising, search, e-commerce, or large-scale consumer product experience is a plus.
Benefits
- Typical U.S. base pay is USD $119,800-$234,700 per year, with a separate range for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area locations.
- Employees within the stated commute distance of designated offices are generally expected to work from the office at least four days per week beginning January 26, 2026, subject to local law and jurisdiction.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The Microsoft Cloud Background Check is required upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
