Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of Thunder’s core compiler technologies.
- Analyze performance of deep learning workloads running across thousands of GPUs and identify optimization opportunities.
- Develop compiler features that accelerate PyTorch models on NVIDIA GPUs.
- Collaborate with compiler, library, systems, and framework teams to translate research into practical open-source solutions.
- Contribute to the PyTorch ecosystem and participate in open-source design discussions, code contributions, or mentorship.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- Strong command of Python and experience building complex, well-tested software systems.
- Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
- Understanding of compiler concepts including abstract syntax trees, intermediate representations such as SSA, program analysis, and code generation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working in a distributed, open-source environment.
- Preferred: contributions to deep learning compiler projects such as TVM, MLIR, or IREE, or to deep learning frameworks.
- Preferred: deep expertise in PyTorch internals, especially TorchDynamo and TorchInductor.
- Preferred: experience with JAX-like functional transformations in compiler contexts.
- Preferred: familiarity with parallel programming, distributed systems, and high-performance CUDA code.
- Preferred: impactful participation in open-source communities through code contributions, design discussions, or mentorship.
