Responsibilities
- Architect and develop low-level firmware for telematics devices and constrained-resource embedded systems.
- Define coding standards, workflows, quality assurance practices, and testing strategies, including automated, unit, and integration testing.
- Implement embedded security measures such as encryption, secure communications, and event logging.
- Conduct code reviews and collaborate across the software development life cycle.
- Maintain documentation and workflows using Jira and Confluence.
- Mentor junior and intermediate developers in firmware best practices and edge computing design.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software using schematics, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debugging tools.
- Suggest product and process improvements to achieve KPI goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Expertise in C++ or C and strong firmware development experience for battery-powered and low-power embedded devices.
- Experience optimizing applications for constrained RAM, Flash, and CPU resources.
- Experience with Real-Time Operating System application development and integration.
- Understanding of Bluetooth, cellular modem/module integration, LTE, LTE-M, NB-IoT, CAT-M, and 5G technologies.
- Familiarity with Git, GitHub or GitLab, and CI principles.
- Experience implementing software testing methodologies, including unit and integration testing.
- Strong networking fundamentals, technical writing, documentation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with IoT and edge security best practices and secure communication protocols.
- Ability to work with industrial communication protocols such as CAN, Modbus, and Ethernet is an asset.
- Comfort reading hardware schematics and using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and hardware debugging tools.
- Ability to leverage AI tools to improve development workflows and productivity.
- Potential ability to travel internationally approximately 5% of the time.
