Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate highly available, scalable, low-latency asynchronous processing and queueing services.
- Build platform primitives, self-service APIs, and tooling that enable product teams to process data reliably and efficiently.
- Own system performance, reliability, observability, SLOs, autoscaling, failure isolation, and operational health.
- Lead the full lifecycle of complex projects and features, including discovery, technical design, implementation, rollout, and maintenance.
- Collaborate on technical design reviews, RFCs, specifications, and project-level technical direction.
- Mentor and pair with engineers through design and code reviews and support the development of junior engineers.
- Participate in periodic on-call duties, incident response, root-cause analysis, and recurrence prevention.
- Improve performance, self-healing systems, configuration as code, defensive programming, and engineering workflows.
Requirements
- BA or BS degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Typically 6+ years of hands-on software development experience building and operating highly available, full-stack SaaS products at scale, or equivalent proficiency and impact.
- Experience independently owning complex projects or features and providing clear technical direction.
- Experience owning system performance, reliability, observability, SLOs, on-call operations, incidents, and root-cause analyses.
- Familiarity with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and reliable service design in containerized cloud environments.
- Expertise and hands-on experience with asynchronous processing and queueing systems such as SQS, Kafka, or Apache Pulsar.
- Ability to debug complex production outages and drive failures to root cause and prevention.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including leading technical discussions and writing design documents and RFCs.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing thoughtful feedback in design and code reviews.
- Experience working on small, autonomous teams and collaborating with product managers, business stakeholders, and engineers.
- Experience with Linux and all layers of the networking stack, including production administration and debugging, is preferred.
- Practical experience building highly available systems at scale with Apache Pulsar is preferred.
- Experience experimenting with AI in work or personal projects and willingness to learn AI tools and workflows.
