Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, document, and deliver scalable full-stack software systems, including frontend applications, backend services, and APIs.
- Develop cloud-native, event-driven, containerized services using Java/Spring Boot, TypeScript/Node.js, Angular, and AWS.
- Own the quality, performance, reliability, accessibility, and operational health of student-facing systems.
- Participate in on-call rotation, lead production incident response, and improve availability, MTTR, and change-success outcomes.
- Lead system design, migrations, modernization, technical-debt management, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Apply secure-coding, authentication, authorization, FERPA, and accessibility practices.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams, influence technical direction, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience in place of formal education.
- At least 6 years of experience building and delivering full-stack applications.
- Experience developing web applications and APIs with Java, TypeScript/Node.js, or JavaScript.
- Experience with frontend frameworks such as Angular and with service-based or modular architectures.
- Hands-on experience operating AWS services including Fargate/ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, and S3.
- Experience with containerized microservices using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with event-driven architecture or messaging such as Kafka.
- Preferred qualifications include Spring Boot or Node.js, CI/CD and deployment practices, Dynatrace, CloudWatch, GitHub, JIRA, VS Code, IntelliJ, SQL, data modeling, NestJS, NgRx, Nx, Argo, Terraform, Confluent, schema registries, Adobe Experience Manager, Form.io, FormAssembly, axe-core, Playwright, and Cypress.
- Experience mentoring engineers, acting as a technical lead, designing APIs and integrations, working with accessibility testing, and using modern branching and release strategies is preferred.
