Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, document, and deliver scalable full-stack software systems, including frontend applications, backend services, and APIs.
- Develop cloud-native, event-driven, message-based services and containerized microservices on AWS.
- Lead system design decisions, migrations, modernization efforts, service re-platforming, database changes, and technical-debt management.
- Own the quality, performance, reliability, accessibility, and operational health of student-facing systems.
- Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and drive post-incident improvements.
- Manage availability, MTTR, and change-success outcomes while improving observability and service reliability.
- Apply secure-coding, authentication, authorization, accessibility, and FERPA/student-data handling practices.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams, influence technical direction, communicate status, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience substituting for formal education.
- At least 6 years of experience building and delivering full-stack applications.
- Experience developing web applications and APIs with Java, TypeScript/Node.js, and JavaScript.
- Experience with frontend frameworks such as Angular and with service-based or modular architectures.
- Experience contributing to or leading system design decisions.
- Hands-on experience building and operating services on AWS, including Fargate/ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, and S3.
- Experience with containerized microservices using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with event-driven architecture or messaging such as Kafka.
- Preferred qualifications include Spring Boot or Node.js, CI/CD pipelines, observability and incident response, GitHub, JIRA, VS Code, IntelliJ, SQL, data modeling, NestJS, NgRx, Nx, Argo, Terraform, Kafka/Confluent, schema registries, Adobe Experience Manager, Form.io, FormAssembly, axe-core, Playwright, and Cypress.
- Preferred experience includes mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead, API design and integration, accessibility testing, trunk-based development, and modern release strategies.
