Responsibilities
- Own solution architecture for software-defined live production, including detailed designs, reference architectures, and migration strategies.
- Map production workflows across on-premises, edge, and cloud environments, including burst capacity, disaster recovery, and asynchronous processing.
- Specify media data-plane and control-plane architectures using broadcast standards, media fabrics, NMOS, and facility APIs.
- Design Kubernetes-based platforms with GPU and NIC scheduling, edge timing, identity, zero-trust zoning, and observability.
- Lead multi-vendor integration, SAT, UAT, performance validation, runbook creation, and on-air acceptance.
- Prepare and defend RFPs, statements of work, effort models, and scalable operating models.
- Conduct client workshops, evaluate vendors, manage technical risk and cost, and translate production needs into compute and network requirements.
- Mentor engineering staff and represent the practice with clients and industry organizations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in live production, broadcast facilities, outside broadcast, or systems integration for those environments.
- Experience being responsible for a system that went to air.
- Deep experience with ST 2110, PTP/ST 2059, ST 2022-7, multicast design, NMOS, leaf-spine media fabrics, and commissioning tools.
- Strong IT and networking knowledge, including Linux, IP routing, QoS, hybrid cloud, and identity.
- Fluency with containers, Kubernetes concepts, REST/OpenAPI, Git, and infrastructure-as-code, including the ability to read SDKs and specify APIs.
- Solution-architecture experience with client workshops, vendor evaluation, risk, cost, and operating-model development.
- Preferred experience with ORIGIN, MXL, Holoscan, Imagine AMPP, Grass Valley AMPP-class, Lawo HOME, Sony/Nevion, or similar software-defined production platforms.
- C++ or Python experience sufficient to read media-function code and write orchestrators and tests is preferred.
- Cloud or Kubernetes credentials such as an AWS/Azure architect certification or CKA are preferred.
- Published designs or contributions to EBU, SMPTE, NMOS, MXL, or Matrox Origin are preferred.
- Strong client-facing presence, technical precision, flexibility, and calm execution during critical live production phases.
