Base Salary
$104k - $178k/yr
Responsibilities
- Implement model serving layers, retrieval infrastructure, prompt management, and output evaluation services under Senior and Staff engineer guidance.
- Develop and maintain APIs for product teams integrating AI capabilities.
- Build observability and monitoring for output quality, latency, cost, and system health.
- Contribute to technical designs and trade-off decisions involving simplicity, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Translate product engineering AI integration needs into platform features and consolidate recurring integration patterns.
- Create documentation, reference implementations, and runbooks for platform adoption.
- Help define and enforce API contracts, error-handling patterns, and cost-attribution standards.
- Mentor Engineer I colleagues and contribute to their development.
- Implement AI evaluation and monitoring pipelines and contribute to content safety, compliance, PII handling, audit trail, and data residency requirements.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong backend engineering proficiency in Python, C#/.NET, Java, or Node.js.
- Understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design principles.
- Hands-on experience integrating large language models or ML models into production applications.
- Working knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, and embedding pipelines.
- Experience building or contributing to shared services or platform components.
- Familiarity with cloud-managed AI services such as AWS Bedrock or Azure OpenAI.
- Experience with APIs, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with LLM frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, or prompt engineering, is preferred.
- Familiarity with Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, or similar vector databases is preferred.
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
- Experience with observability and monitoring for ML/AI systems is preferred.
- Experience with regulated industries, data handling, compliance, audit requirements, or financial services is preferred.
- Proficiency with RESTful API design, web service architecture, SQL, relational databases, Git, and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
- Ability to write maintainable, well-tested code and participate effectively in code reviews.
