Base Salary
$158k - $248k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for AI engineering, including agent architecture, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring strategies.
- Design shared AI platform components such as agent frameworks, tool integrations, and evaluation infrastructure.
- Work directly with clients on complex engagements to identify domains, design AI capabilities, and ensure production quality.
- Evaluate AI readiness and make judgment calls about production-worthiness, reliability, and speed.
- Move client-specific prototypes into generalized products in partnership with core engineering teams.
- Design observability, establish SLOs, and build operational practices for reliable AI systems.
- Mentor AI and full-stack engineers and establish the technical and cultural bar for the team.
- Translate client engagement learnings into product roadmap priorities.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Professional experience with Python.
- Deep experience building and operating AI/LLM-powered systems in production, including agent architectures, multi-model orchestration, and evaluation at scale.
- Experience designing technical systems, platforms, and patterns used by other engineers.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar.
- Track record of taking products or capabilities from zero to one.
- Experience working directly with customers or external stakeholders to scope and deliver technical work.
- Ability to lead technical direction and influence across teams without formal authority.
- Excellent communication skills with clients, engineers, and executive leadership.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience includes multi-service AI platform architecture, additional backend languages such as Java, financial services, production observability, SaaS operational excellence, developer experience, or internal platform work.
