Base Salary
$165k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead mission-critical, high-risk, and multi-quarter initiatives across multiple teams and connected systems.
- Own architecture, technical direction, scalable boundaries, design reviews, and standards for a product area.
- Write and review code, prototype, debug, lead migrations, and operate services in production.
- Build reusable AI-enabled capabilities involving models, agents, retrieval, or automation when appropriate.
- Improve testing, performance, observability, security, operational readiness, and incident response.
- Mentor mid- and senior-level engineers and build alignment through proposals, reviews, and technical influence.
- Partner with product, design, and engineering leaders to shape roadmaps and connect technical investments to product and business outcomes.
Requirements
- Typically 7+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent sustained Staff-level impact.
- Experience leading complex initiatives across multiple teams or systems with sustained multi-team impact.
- Hands-on experience using agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or comparable tools for meaningful multi-step software work.
- Ability to write strategies, specifications, and acceptance criteria; provide context; scope complex work; and direct delegated work.
- Ability to critically review AI-generated code, validate assumptions, and identify security, scalability, and maintainability risks.
- Production frontend experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and React; Next.js experience is preferred.
- Production backend experience building services and APIs, with the ability to work effectively in or learn Go or Python.
- Experience with relational databases, SQL, schema design, transactions, and migrations.
- Experience with testing, accessibility, input validation, authentication, authorization, and web security practices.
- Strong independent judgment, communication, cross-functional alignment, and ability to operate through ambiguity.
- Preferred experience includes production AI-enabled features, model APIs, structured outputs, tool or function calling, retrieval, agent workflows, AI evaluation and observability, MCP servers, multi-team architecture or modernization, critical systems, distributed systems, gRPC, cloud infrastructure, containers, queues, and CI/CD.

- Starting base salary is $165,000-$215,000 depending on location, experience, and skills, excluding other compensation and benefits.
