Responsibilities
- Develop embedded vehicle software for fleet-scale autonomous driving data collection.
- Build components that capture, filter, validate, package, monitor, and offload vehicle and sensor data.
- Improve data quality, privacy enforcement, reliability, observability, and performance across data collection workflows.
- Debug Linux- and QNX-based vehicle software, real-time recording pipelines, and backend integration points.
- Collaborate with AI, backend, embedded platform, and systems engineering teams.
- Deliver software through code reviews, automated testing, performance testing, regression prevention, rollout readiness, and operational support.
Requirements
- Recently completed or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or a related technical field; completed degrees must be within the past nine months.
- The degree must be completed before joining GM.
- Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, computer architecture, or distributed systems.
- Coding ability in C++, Python, or both, demonstrated through coursework, internships, research, or substantial projects.
- Experience developing in a Linux environment through projects, labs, internships, research, or personal work.
- Ability to debug complex software problems, reason about system behavior, and communicate clearly in a collaborative environment.
- Preferred qualifications include embedded Linux, QNX, automotive systems, robotics platforms, edge devices, C++ systems programming, IPC, messaging, networking, serialization, data pipelines, real-time software, logging, telemetry, observability, data quality, data recording, Bazel, CMake, GitHub Actions, SQL, cloud storage, backend services, or relevant autonomous driving, robotics, embedded, distributed systems, AI/ML infrastructure, or platform experience.
