Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own firmware-based diagnostic readiness for Azure server platforms from architecture and bring-up through production support.
  • Design diagnostic frameworks spanning silicon telemetry, hardware interfaces, platform firmware, operating systems, and cloud health systems.
  • Lead platform bring-up, validation, and root-cause investigations for hardware, firmware, and system software issues.
  • Develop diagnostic telemetry, health monitoring, fault detection, automation, and triage tooling for fleet reliability.
  • Partner with silicon vendors, ODM/OEM partners, and internal platform teams to define diagnostic requirements and improve serviceability.
  • Mentor engineers and drive design reviews, code reviews, metrics, validation coverage, and secure firmware practices.

Requirements

  • A doctorate plus 1+ year, master’s degree plus 4+ years, or bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience developing platform firmware, embedded software, or low-level systems software for server, embedded, or datacenter platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ and experience building, debugging, and shipping firmware through full development cycles.
  • Experience developing or debugging firmware-based diagnostic and validation solutions for server-class hardware.
  • Ability to independently root-cause cross-stack issues involving hardware, firmware, operating systems, telemetry, and infrastructure.
  • Experience with large-scale cloud infrastructure, hyperscale datacenters, Azure infrastructure, or fleet health management systems.
  • Knowledge of memory diagnostics, PCIe diagnostics, storage reliability, accelerator/GPU health monitoring, or platform serviceability.
  • Experience with firmware telemetry pipelines, cloud-scale diagnostic data analytics, reliability analysis, predictive failure detection, and automation frameworks.
  • Experience with Rust, C#, Redfish protocols, and service-oriented architecture for firmware, diagnostics, platform management, or telemetry systems.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check and other applicable security screening requirements.
  • Experience using AI-assisted or agentic code development workflows is an additional qualification.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $119,800–$234,700 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City range of USD $160,200–$261,000 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position is open for a minimum of five days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
