Responsibilities
- Lead firmware architecture and embedded software design for UPS and power electronics platforms.
- Develop real-time control firmware for AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, inverters, and battery chargers.
- Design control algorithms for voltage regulation, current control, PFC, battery charging, protection logic, and thermal management.
- Support the complete NPDI lifecycle from concept through production release, including requirements, system architecture, design reviews, integration, validation, and field support.
- Develop embedded firmware in C/C++ for RTOS and bare-metal systems on microcontrollers and DSPs.
- Implement communication protocols including CAN, Modbus, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, and SNMP.
- Perform firmware debugging, root-cause analysis, regression testing, HIL testing, system integration, and performance optimization.
- Analyze field issues and implement corrective actions.
- Mentor firmware engineers, review technical deliverables, and lead technical discussions and architecture reviews.
- Drive coding standards, firmware development processes, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electronics, electrical, or related engineering.
- At least 15 years of professional engineering experience designing, developing, and analyzing embedded control-system firmware.
- Strong background in embedded coding, code review, debugging, testing, and deployment.
- Expertise designing and implementing power electronics control algorithms tailored to application needs.
- Strong knowledge of TI C2000 series microcontrollers, including the TMS320F28x.
- Understanding of hardware schematics and hardware-software co-designed architecture for production hardware.
- Experience with model-based development using MATLAB and Simulink and with Typhoon Hardware in the Loop.
- Experience with source control management such as Git.
- Experience with unit testing, debugging, bug fixing, verification testing, and reliability testing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Prior UPS control firmware experience, including battery management and power converter control, is preferred.
- Preferred experience includes TI C2000 DSPs, MATLAB/Simulink, Typhoon HIL systems, battery management systems, UPS topology, embedded cybersecurity basics, and SNMP/Web monitoring firmware.
