Responsibilities
- Own Scout’s Azure cloud infrastructure, including compute, networking, identity, storage, cost, and scaling decisions.
- Architect infrastructure for reliable production-scale deployment across multiple airlines and industries.
- Design and own infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and observability practices.
- Support data infrastructure and pipelines connecting the application to Databricks.
- Lead load testing, performance, reliability, security, backup, and disaster-recovery initiatives.
- Build compliance-ready infrastructure for SOC 2 and ISO certification efforts.
- Partner with engineering, data, and leadership teams to assume ownership of infrastructure work.
- Manage infrastructure vendors and cloud-spend relationships.
Requirements
- Significant experience owning infrastructure or platform engineering, ideally at Director, Head of Infrastructure, Principal, or Staff scope.
- Deep hands-on Microsoft Azure experience across compute, networking, identity, and storage.
- Strong architecture and design ownership, such as leading a cloud migration or designing infrastructure from scratch.
- Experience operating infrastructure in a small team of approximately 1–3 people.
- Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM, plus CI/CD and observability tooling.
- Familiarity with data infrastructure and pipelines; Databricks experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience building toward SOC 2 or ISO 27001 compliance from an infrastructure or security perspective is preferred.
- Ability to independently own cloud costs, scaling decisions, and infrastructure direction in an ambiguous startup environment.
