Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate internal platform services and CLIs for data modeling workflows.
- Improve reliability and operability through monitoring, incident response patterns, safe rollouts, and runbooks.
- Lead large-scale migrations and deprecations with phased plans, guardrails, and measurable cutover criteria.
- Identify systemic bottlenecks, right-size workloads, and build safeguards for cost and performance.
- Build developer experience through fast feedback loops, golden paths, self-serve workflows, and actionable errors.
- Partner across teams to standardize metadata, access, testing, and promotion patterns while supporting legitimate exceptions.
Requirements
- Design maintainable systems and operate them responsibly in production.
- Demonstrate production ownership, including rollout and rollback planning, impact monitoring, and post-launch follow-through.
- Apply systems thinking involving interfaces, contracts, failure modes, and tradeoffs among correctness, freshness, cost, and complexity.
- Reason about backfills, idempotency, schema evolution, and blast radius across dependent datasets.
- Proficiency with at least one major cloud platform: GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Preferred experience includes BigQuery, Airflow or Composer, Iceberg or Delta, data lake/lakehouse operations, or large-scale platform migrations.
