Senior Backend Engineer, Trust & Safety

Responsibilities
- Build detection, monitoring, and case-management systems for AML/BSA, KYC/EDD, and sanctions-screening obligations.
- Integrate trade-surveillance and case-management platforms and create audit-grade data pipelines with tiered storage and long-term S3 retention.
- Model and reconcile financial data, including FinOps and ledger reconciliation, to ensure accurate and auditable money-movement records.
- Translate regulatory requirements into alerting, case queues, and investigative reporting in partnership with Compliance, Risk, and Legal.
- Develop real-time risk-decisioning and transaction-monitoring systems to detect and respond to financial crime.
- Collaborate with platform engineers to integrate Trust & Safety systems with the broader exchange.
Requirements
- Backend engineering experience building detection, monitoring, or case-management tooling for AML/BSA, KYC/EDD, or sanctions-screening obligations at scale.
- Experience integrating with or building on trade-surveillance and case-management platforms such as Eventus and Palantir.
- Experience structuring audit-grade data pipelines and modeling and reconciling financial data for auditability and accuracy.
- Experience partnering with Compliance, Risk, and Legal teams to translate regulatory requirements into engineering systems.
- Background in risk, fraud, or compliance-technology engineering at a fintech or crypto exchange.
- Experience building real-time risk-decisioning or transaction-monitoring systems at scale is a plus.
