Responsibilities
- Build and maintain AI-assisted internal tooling for coding, testing, deployments, defect triage, and engineering workflow automation.
- Contribute observability to the AI-assisted pipeline and track metrics including cycle time, defect escape rate, test coverage, and delivery turnaround.
- Identify manual coding, testing, and release steps that can be automated and help deliver small, continuously releasable increments.
- Integrate and safely roll out LLM-based developer tools such as Claude Code with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and related engineering workflows.
- Work with testing and project management functions on exploratory test generation, defect clustering, flaky-test detection, and test prioritization.
- Define and refine responsible AI standards covering data handling, prompt hygiene, and safeguards around production and customer data.
- Mentor less experienced engineers on effective AI-tool usage and collaborate with security and compliance on regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a software engineer with demonstrated technical judgment on production systems.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java or a comparable backend service ecosystem.
- Strong fluency in test-driven development and pair programming.
- Experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting features or systems in production.
- A strong interest in aggressive automation and eliminating manual engineering steps.
- Some experience evaluating or using LLM-based developer tools in a real engineering environment.
- Preferred: experience with MCP, agentic tooling, or Spec Driven Development.
- Preferred: familiarity with the Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira, Confluence, and their APIs.
- Preferred: experience in financial services, trading platforms, or another regulated, high-reliability environment.
