Base Salary
$140k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimization of data and technical infrastructure for machine learning systems.
- Build real-time systems using Kubernetes and Kafka to support newsroom operations.
- Maintain the Personalization subgraph in a federated GraphQL architecture.
- Contribute to back-end systems that enhance product quality and content discoverability.
- Support the mission of journalistic independence and truth-seeking.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in backend programming languages such as Node, Typescript, Go, Java, or Python.
- 3+ years of experience with cloud-based deployments on AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
- 2+ years of experience with data engineering in production applications like Apache Beam or GCP Dataflow.
- 2+ years of experience using Terraform to manage production infrastructure at scale.
