Responsibilities

  • Build a scalable integrations platform that brings data from dozens of third-party integrations to thousands of customers.
  • Define and drive the technical roadmap and architecture for authentication, data retrieval, webhooks, processing, rate limiting, remediation, and reconciliation.
  • Design and develop reliable event-driven Java services using Kafka and Kubernetes to ingest and synchronize third-party data.
  • Own large multi-engineer projects from design documents and technical decisions through general availability while contributing production code and reviews.
  • Mentor engineers and establish standards for code quality, testing, security, performance, and technical execution.
  • Own service operational health, including observability, alerting, SLOs, on-call, incident response, rate limits, retry storms, and webhook ordering issues.
  • Collaborate with product management, architects, partner teams, and customers to translate business requirements into scalable technical strategies.
  • Evaluate and introduce engineering tools and practices, including AI-assisted and spec-driven development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years as the technical lead of a team or major initiative designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
  • Expert-level Java proficiency and experience with modern backend frameworks such as Spring Boot, concurrency, REST API design, and JVM performance.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or similar event-driven systems.
  • Hands-on experience running cloud services, preferably on AWS, with strong Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and observability knowledge.
  • Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, resilient microservices design, relational data modeling, and SQL.
  • A proven record of defining technical vision, mentoring engineers, and leading delivery of mission-critical systems.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional leadership and explaining technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience with GitHub, GitHub Enterprise, ServiceNow, Jira, third-party APIs, webhooks, OAuth, token management, rate limiting, polling, and incremental synchronization.
  • Preferred experience with Terraform, Vault, CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, MELT, OpenTelemetry, entity or graph data models, AI coding assistants, spec-driven development, LLM or agent integrations such as MCP, enterprise customer escalations, and relevant open-source contributions.

Benefits

  • Flexible workforce model supporting fully office-based, fully remote, or hybrid work arrangements.
  • Inclusive workplace with reasonable-accommodation support during the application and recruiting process.
  • Employment requires identity and work-eligibility verification, a criminal background check, and potentially an export compliance assessment depending on the role and location.
