Base Salary

$139k - $218k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Write code and tests, build prototypes, and investigate performance bottlenecks.
  • Use profiling, measurement, and experiments to diagnose and resolve Firefox performance issues.
  • Own the performance of a significant browser area end to end and contribute to the Performance team's technical roadmap.
  • Lead performance efforts within the engineer's area and drive complex projects to completion.
  • Educate engineers through code reviews, talks, tooling, and documentation.
  • Contribute to performance benchmarks and prioritize impactful improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across the organization on shared performance goals.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Deep proficiency in C++ and working proficiency in JavaScript.
  • Proven experience developing performance-critical software.
  • Proven ability to debug and analyze performance bottlenecks using profiling tools such as VTune, Xperf, or other sampling-based profilers.
  • Experience with multithreading and concurrency, disk I/O, or GPU work.
  • Track record of driving projects to completion across more than one engineer and collaborating across teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a geographically distributed team.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Web Standards, Android or Windows application programming, statistics, or modern web browser development.
