Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test robust, scalable, high-performance software for Google’s distributed storage system, primarily using C++.
- Contribute to the technical design and implementation of new features and significant system improvements.
- Analyze and improve the efficiency, reliability, and performance of the storage system.
- Debug and resolve complex issues in large-scale distributed environments, including production systems, often in collaboration with SRE teams.
- Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate actively in code reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Two years of software development experience or one year of software development experience with an advanced degree.
- Two years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- Experience programming in C++.
- Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience with performance analysis, tuning, and optimization of complex systems.
- Understanding of distributed-systems concepts such as consistency, fault tolerance, replication, and partitioning.
- Familiarity with storage-system, file-system, or database internals.
- A master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.
