Responsibilities
- Own the design, delivery, and production operation of significant Kubernetes platform components and core subsystems.
- Turn ambiguous platform problems into designs, plans, and shipped software with limited guidance.
- Build operators, controllers, infrastructure automation, and platform services primarily in code.
- Contribute to the architecture of distributed workloads, runtime models, and isolation mechanisms.
- Own operability through SLOs, failure-mode analysis, upgrade and migration planning, and on-call support.
- Partner with senior staff and principal engineers on platform architecture and mentor earlier-career engineers.
- Design platform systems for regulated markets where FedRAMP and related compliance constraints affect implementation.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience building production software, including strong distributed-systems experience.
- Prior experience building and operating Kubernetes platform infrastructure in production at meaningful scale.
- Strong Go programming skills and production Kubernetes controller or operator experience.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major hyperscaler, including compute, networking, and IAM primitives.
- Experience owning complex components end to end from ambiguous problem definition through production.
- Working knowledge of containers, CI/CD, GitOps-based delivery, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience integrating or critically evaluating AI for engineering and platform work, including AI-powered tooling, automated operations, agentic fleet-visibility systems, or AI-enabled infrastructure practices.
- Preferred experience with managed Kubernetes such as EKS, AKS, or GKE and with self-managed clusters.
- Preferred experience with container networking, CNI, service mesh, mTLS, workload identity, secrets management, observability, Terraform, Crossplane, or distributed data and compute workloads on Kubernetes.
