Responsibilities
- Lead several engineers within a team or workstream toward user value and business opportunities.
- Design, build, and own secure, observable, scalable Python microservices for the insurance platform.
- Drive architectural discussions and decisions across multiple teams.
- Deliver large and complex technical initiatives end to end.
- Improve engineering excellence through testability, reliability, scalability, and clean code.
- Coach and mentor engineers through context, feedback, and support.
- Improve team processes, CI/CD pipelines, and incident response while investigating and resolving root causes.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on backend expertise building cloud-native microservices, with Python preferred or strong experience in another language.
- Experience building distributed architectures and understanding performance tuning, observability, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Ability to build systems that are simple, understandable, testable, and maintainable while weighing technical trade-offs.
- Demonstrated leadership through mentoring, clear communication, collaboration, and persistence through ambiguity or difficult technical problems.
- Ability to engage stakeholders beyond engineering and explain technical decisions to non-technical audiences.
- Curiosity and willingness to use AI daily, experiment quickly, and take ownership of developing AI-first working practices.
