Base Salary
$17k - $299k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing solutions across platforms, applications, and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with software engineers, SREs, and infrastructure teams to define observability requirements.
- Develop best practices for monitoring, alerting, and telemetry systems.
- Evaluate and recommend observability tools and technologies to improve system visibility and reliability.
- Define and track KPIs and SLOs for system availability, performance, and reliability.
- Analyze observability data to assist with troubleshooting and resolution of complex incidents.
- Mentor engineers on observability principles, practices, and tools.
- Evaluate and optimize observability systems and drive standardization across the organization.
- Create training materials, documentation, and runbooks for observability systems and practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or a closely related field.
- At least 8 years of experience working in engineering teams that build large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong experience implementing and managing observability solutions in large-scale, complex environments.
- Deep knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and logging systems and tools, including OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and Elastic.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
- Familiarity with Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Jaeger, or Zipkin is preferred.
- Proficiency in at least one of Go, Java, Python, or Ruby is preferred.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is preferred.
- Understanding of DevOps and SRE practices, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code is preferred.
- Professional certifications in cloud platforms, monitoring tools, or related technologies are preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver observability projects and initiatives.
