Responsibilities

  • Define and execute OpenBMC automation roadmaps, validation strategies, standards, and best practices.
  • Lead architecture and development of scalable automation frameworks, reusable libraries, validation suites, and test infrastructure.
  • Validate OpenBMC firmware and platform-management features through functional, regression, stress, performance, security, compliance, and interoperability testing.
  • Automate firmware deployment, platform provisioning, test execution, log collection, reporting, and dashboard generation.
  • Integrate automated validation into firmware release pipelines and support continuous integration and continuous testing.
  • Lead defect triage, root-cause analysis, issue resolution, customer escalation analysis, and field investigations.
  • Design and maintain validation labs and test environments.
  • Mentor automation engineers and lead technical reviews, readiness assessments, and cross-functional validation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, platform architecture, program, DevOps, and customer teams on requirements, quality objectives, planning, estimation, and risk mitigation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in firmware validation, automation, or embedded systems testing.
  • 5+ years of hands-on BMC/OpenBMC validation and automation experience.
  • Expert proficiency in Python and Robot Framework.
  • Experience automating and validating Redfish, IPMI, PLDM, MCTP, and SPDM interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of OpenBMC architecture, including D-Bus, BMCWeb, Entity Manager, phosphor services, Virtual Media, Firmware Update, and User Management.
  • Experience validating OpenBMC platforms using AST2500, AST2600, and AST2700 BMC SoCs.
  • Knowledge of server platform architecture, BIOS-BMC interaction, inventory management, sensor monitoring, and power and thermal management.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux, shell scripting, networking, system services, and log analysis.
  • Experience designing scalable automation frameworks and automating firmware deployment, provisioning, test execution, log collection, and reporting.
  • Experience with Jenkins, Git, GitHub or GitLab, Gerrit, CI/CD pipelines, and JIRA.
  • Proven experience leading automation initiatives, improving test coverage, mentoring engineers, and driving engineering best practices.
  • Preferred qualifications include OpenBMC upstream development or testing, enterprise server/storage/datacenter platform experience, containerized test environments, infrastructure automation, and reusable validation frameworks.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, planning, estimation, execution, debugging, and risk-management skills.
