Responsibilities

  • Design and own secure, scalable services while guiding technical decisions and evaluating reliability, performance, and cost trade-offs.
  • Build, modernize, deploy, and monitor services primarily in C++ on AWS.
  • Use AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, and prototyping, while validating outputs for quality and safety.
  • Advise on AI use cases, model concepts, prompt patterns, ethical and privacy considerations, and residual risk mitigation.
  • Coach peers on software engineering practices, prompt engineering, and AI-augmented workflows.
  • Partner with Product, Security, DevOps, and other teams on features, deployment, compliance, and operational improvements.
  • Pilot emerging tools and frameworks, integrate governance checks into pipelines, and improve observability and incident response.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience delivering secure, scalable services.
  • Understanding of LLM concepts, hallucinations, prompt sensitivity, and safe versus unsafe AI use cases.
  • Experience using AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, and prototyping with critical review of their outputs.
  • Proficiency in prompt engineering, including designing reusable prompts and coaching peers.
  • Awareness of AI-related ethical, privacy, cost, bias, and vendor lock-in risks, with experience embedding compliance checks into workflows.
  • Proficiency in C++ for RESTful APIs and hands-on experience with cloud-based serverless patterns.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code using CDK or Terraform, containerization with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL databases, including schema design and optimization.
  • Ability to apply security best practices involving IAM and secrets management.
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to mentor or guide peers.
  • Familiarity with Angular is preferred.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience, is preferred.
