Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, performant, secure, and highly available systems.
- Develop clean, modular, maintainable code with unit-test coverage.
- Standardize design patterns and improve engineering velocity, code quality, performance, and tooling.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the software development lifecycle and translate strategy into engineering tasks.
- Identify bottlenecks and system constraints, reduce technical debt, and improve developer experience.
- Create technical documentation, schematics, and architecture diagrams.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
- Use monitoring, metrics, and logging to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of technical expertise, including recent experience architecting, designing, and developing technology platforms with Ruby on Rails, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- At least 3 years of experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL and MongoDB.
- Experience with modern caching technologies, preferably Redis.
- Experience working collaboratively on geographically dispersed software engineering teams.
- Experience developing and deploying applications in cloud environments and familiarity with cloud-native architectures and services.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices, design patterns, and service-oriented or microservices architectures.
- Experience with unit and integration testing, frontend frameworks such as Vue.js, Vuetify, or Angular, and APIs including REST and GraphQL.
- Experience with background processing tools such as Sidekiq.
- Ability to write modular, maintainable, secure, and testable code across multiple technologies and platforms.
- Preferred experience includes AI-assisted development or AI/ML integrations, Raspberry Pi, iOS or Android applications, high-availability production systems, entertainment or commerce platforms, CRM, loyalty and membership solutions, payment platforms, EMV, card readers, monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
