Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI/LLM-powered capabilities using Azure AI services, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration, prompt engineering, and model integration.
- Build application and integration code and take AI initiatives from architecture through production.
- Establish reusable AI application patterns, frameworks, guardrails, evaluation, observability, LLMOps/MLOps, and cost-control practices.
- Use agentic coding assistants such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot in day-to-day development and model AI-assisted engineering practices.
- Partner with Security and Compliance to deliver secure-by-design cloud applications that meet HIPAA and data-protection standards.
- Serve as the technical point of contact and hands-on developer for organization-wide AI solution delivery.
- Contribute to the secure, scalable, cloud-native architecture and infrastructure of the AI engineering platform on Microsoft Azure.
- Gather requirements from business units and translate them into AI-powered solutions.
- Monitor and optimize AI and cloud service performance, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
- Provide platform direction and recommendations to IT Engineering leadership and mentor engineers adopting the platform and its engineering patterns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technology field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of software or cloud application engineering experience, including recent hands-on AI/ML development.
- Hands-on experience building AI/ML and LLM-based applications with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration frameworks, prompt engineering, and model evaluation.
- Hands-on experience using agentic coding assistants such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.
- Strong cloud-native application development skills on Microsoft Azure, including services such as App Service, Functions, containers/AKS, API Management, and storage and data services.
- Strong programming skills in Python and C#/.NET, along with experience in infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, and observability.
- Familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps and Agile delivery methodologies.
- Knowledge of secure application design, Microsoft Entra ID, API security, and data protection in a HIPAA-regulated environment.
- Strong architectural judgment and the ability to evaluate model, cost, latency, accuracy, and safety trade-offs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across Engineering, Security, Compliance, and business teams.
- Microsoft or Azure AI certifications are preferred but not required.
