Responsibilities
- Lead the design of Airwallex’s DevOps strategy.
- Develop and evolve cloud infrastructure optimized for performance, scalability, and security.
- Manage Kubernetes clusters supporting domain services and maintain their reliability.
- Build and enhance tooling and platforms that provide engineering self-service capabilities.
- Develop observability and detection capabilities to reduce time to discover problems and improve system stability.
- Optimize cloud costs, automate manual support, and drive infrastructure standardization.
- Build consensus among DevOps engineers across geographies and feature teams regarding tools and practices.
- Translate agreed practices into shared engineering standards.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience working with large, distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Ansible, or Shell.
- Expertise in at least one public cloud platform: GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Experience operating large-scale production Kubernetes environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Nice-to-have experience with Istio or another service mesh, including traffic management.
- Nice-to-have experience with service registry or service discovery systems.
- Nice-to-have experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
- Nice-to-have experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Nice-to-have experience with observability or monitoring systems such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
