Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and enhance Java backend applications and services using the Spring Framework.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and SOAP web services for system integration.
- Build scalable, reliable, maintainable software components and support Java modernization and migration initiatives, particularly to Java 21.
- Apply payments domain knowledge to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Provide technical guidance as a subject matter expert and resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Analyze and improve application performance, stability, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with architects, product teams, cross-functional teams, and engineering teams on integration and delivery.
- Own technical decisions, contribute to decisions across multiple teams, and participate in Agile development and release activities.
- Promote code quality, reusable design, knowledge sharing, development best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor team members on technical and payments-related expertise.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience with Java / Java Standard Edition and 5+ years of experience with the Spring Framework.
- Strong hands-on experience in Java backend development and developing and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Strong experience with SOAP/web services and enterprise application development.
- Experience with software design, integration patterns, and Java modernization or migration projects, preferably involving Java 21.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and collaborate across multiple engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Preferred: understanding of payments fundamentals and payment processing.
- Preferred: experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
