Responsibilities
- Design and develop interoperability services connecting on-premise hospital EHR systems with Heartflow’s AWS cloud environment.
- Implement data modeling and persistence strategies for complex clinical data within a unified heart-disease management platform.
- Build and maintain scalable, secure data acquisition and ingestion pipelines that extract and normalize patient data from hospital networks.
- Build reliable, secure, low-maintenance REST APIs using healthcare standards including FHIR and HL7.
- Ensure data flows and integrations follow FDA and other regulatory standards and guidance.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, system design discussions, software development practices, and comprehensive testing strategies.
- Mentor junior engineers and own significant mission-critical software components.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong Python development proficiency and experience applying Domain-Driven Design principles.
- Experience architecting robust microservices and event-driven architectures at scale.
- Experience integrating Electronic Health Record systems and using FHIR and HL7 healthcare data standards.
- Experience with data modeling and scalable persistence layers for complex, high-volume data systems.
- Experience building in modern cloud ecosystems and designing secure REST APIs and applications.
- Experience mentoring engineers, contributing to system design, and establishing rigorous software development practices and testing strategies.
- Experience designing testable systems and leading unit, functional, and system-level testing for mission-critical applications.
- Interest or experience in Software as a Medical Device, FDA and HIPAA environments, distributed systems, and resilient healthcare platforms.
