Responsibilities
- Automate, manage, and maintain ClickHouse infrastructure as PostHog scales toward trillions of events per year and clusters exceeding 100 PB of data.
- Build systems for dynamic provisioning and scaling of large ClickHouse clusters using Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
- Optimize ClickHouse performance at the node and instance level and select appropriate hardware for different workloads.
- Investigate and experiment with cloud-provider hardware to identify optimal infrastructure configurations.
- Work on advanced ClickHouse implementations, including open-format-backed tables and query performance tooling.
- Contribute to the development of a ClickHouse query optimizer.
Requirements
- Deep experience with ClickHouse or other OLAP database internals rather than only high-level database usage.
- Strong experience automating dynamic instance provisioning with Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
- Experience operating high-scale, complex data-storage solutions.
- Experience with Python, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, AWS, and Zookeeper, or an alternative to Zookeeper.
