Responsibilities
- Maintain and modernize production codebases written in Ruby, Python, PHP, C++, Java, and .NET with assistance from AI tools.
- Write automated tests alongside feature work and automate build and testing processes.
- Update dependencies and delegate scoped maintenance tasks to bots and agents while retaining ownership of the codebase.
- Review manual- and AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
- Research and adopt practical technologies and collaborate on structured, automated software maintenance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science and more than five years of relevant experience.
- Experience directing AI coding assistants on production codebases, creating scoped specifications and plans, reviewing AI-generated diffs, and determining when to trust or verify generated work.
- Strong experience with Claude Code or GitHub Copilot for maintenance across varied codebases.
- Experience with Git, Jenkins, and GitLab.
- Broad programming experience with Ruby, Python, PHP, C++, Java, and .NET.
- Experience with test-driven development and Google Test, PyTest, JUnit, and testing-pyramid concepts.
- Knowledge of secure coding principles and techniques.
- Experience developing and debugging mobile applications.
- Experience with Ant or MSBuild, open-source license compliance, and Eggplant Performance or Eggplant Functional is desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively, proactively, pragmatically, and with a structured approach to automation.
