Responsibilities
- Develop customer authentication and authorization platforms and iterate rapidly with a highly capable engineering team.
- Partner with teams across Coupang to understand current needs and future direction.
- Design and implement robust, scalable distributed systems and critical infrastructure components.
- Write backend APIs in Java and Go using industry-standard frameworks.
- Drive platform adoption and help internal teams prioritize integration work.
- Investigate critical system issues and improve operational excellence.
- Serve as a technical role model and help shape team culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, or 6 years with an advanced degree.
- 2+ years of experience leading technical projects.
- Fluency in one or more of C++, Java, and Go.
- Recent hands-on experience designing and developing large-scale distributed systems.
- A proven track record delivering mission-critical systems.
- Experience with cloud computing using AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Deep understanding of cloud application design and architecture, API design patterns, performance, and scale.
- Preferred: master’s or PhD in computer science or a related technical field.
- Preferred: working knowledge of OIDC, OAuth2, IAM systems, identity providers, and role-based authorization.
- Preferred: experience with Kubernetes, gRPC, Istio, high-reliability and low-latency cloud systems, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Preferred: experience leading delivery of large-scale services while managing competing priorities.
