Responsibilities
- Build relationships with data producers and consumers across the organization.
- Partner with infrastructure engineers to continuously improve existing systems and processes.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure distributed compute, data orchestration, distributed storage, and streaming infrastructure.
- Document systems, mentor junior team members, and promote transparency, information sharing, collaboration, and Flexport’s values.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least two years of data infrastructure engineering experience.
- At least two years of infrastructure engineering experience supporting product and engineering teams, or software development experience building tools with languages such as Java, Ruby, Go, or Python.
- Experience with data pipelines such as Kafka or Kinesis.
- Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, AWS RDS, Redshift, or Databricks.
- Familiarity with source code and artifact management, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code configuration automation using tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Experience with IaaS cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, containers, and service-oriented architectures.
- Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, collaboration, written communication, verbal communication, and constructive feedback skills.
