Responsibilities
- Design, build, and implement scalable full-stack applications and libraries using Node, React, and TypeScript.
- Guide technical direction, analyze requirements, evaluate architecture tradeoffs, and provide recommendations to stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Break roadmap initiatives into epics and actionable backlog tickets in collaboration with Product Management.
- Design and implement systems and infrastructure based on technical direction from Staff Developers.
- Integrate and optimize third-party systems while monitoring reliability, performance, security, and service continuity.
- Conduct code reviews, write unit and higher-level tests, and improve testing strategies using quality metrics and accepted testing frameworks.
- Prioritize technical debt and bugs, support incident-related improvements, and promote iterative deployment practices.
- Coach and mentor developers, document technical decisions, and foster continuous learning and improvement.
- Ensure developed systems meet standards for accessibility, performance, security, maintainability, operability, observability, and correctness.
- Debug application issues systematically and produce production-ready, understandable, and testable code.
Requirements
- University degree or college diploma in a recognized technical, vocational, or academic program, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 7 years of experience building complex, scalable APIs and integrating third-party APIs.
- At least 5 years of experience building front-end web applications with modern JavaScript frameworks.
- At least 2 years of experience designing scalable and distributed systems.
- Experience mentoring developers and architecting or augmenting large software systems.
- Extensive full-stack experience with React, Redux, Node, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and JavaScript.
- Experience with Scrum, Agile methodologies, DORA metrics, and communicating engineering performance measurements.
- Experience with Webpack, Babel, Storybook, unit testing frameworks such as Jest and Mocha, microservices, and micro-frontends.
- Preferred experience with Cypress, Nightwatch, Selenium, BrowserStack, Terraform, Pulumi, AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes.
