Senior Software Engineer - Data (Python, AWS)

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable data processing systems and robust ETL pipelines for terabytes of advertising data.
  • Develop backend APIs, microservices, and data processing services using Python or Go.
  • Architect data flows supporting batch and real-time analytics requirements.
  • Build and maintain AWS-based data systems using services including S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, Redshift, and EMR.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, data-quality controls, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD practices using Terraform and Docker.
  • Lead complex data engineering projects from requirements gathering through delivery and ensure system availability and data accuracy.
  • Design data architectures, models, and optimized data-processing workflows.
  • Create and manage analytics dashboards and data visualizations for complex business insights.
  • Collaborate with analysts, product managers, business stakeholders, and technical teams; mentor team members and present technical concepts.
  • Maintain clean, well-documented, tested code and serve as a knowledge leader for data solutions.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of data engineering experience leading complex projects from conception to delivery.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders.
  • Very strong hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, Redshift, and EMR.
  • Proficiency with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing.
  • Strong Python experience for data-processing services and APIs, plus expert-level SQL skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Terraform, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience designing scalable data architectures, data models, and optimized data-processing workflows.
  • Strong commitment to clean, maintainable, well-documented code, comprehensive testing, and analytics/reporting requirements.
  • Experience creating and managing dashboards with Tableau, Qlik Sense, Quicksuite, or Power BI.
  • Experience with contextual and prompt engineering using GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar AI assistants is beneficial.
