Responsibilities
- Own and improve the on-call experience by establishing best practices and building supporting platforms.
- Define incident response processes and lead the design of software to streamline these processes.
- Contribute to the post-mortem process and collaborate on writing them to enhance organizational learning.
- Facilitate incident reviews that emphasize learning and blamelessness across various teams.
- Provide technical leadership and coaching to team members to accelerate their growth.
- Train on-call engineers in incident management best practices and processes.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive improvements in reliability and operational excellence.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building software that solves real user problems.
- Experience with distributed systems, Kubernetes, and understanding complex failure modes.
- Ability to independently own ambiguous technical problems from design through delivery.
- Experience analyzing incidents and driving engineering improvements based on operational learnings.
- Participation in on-call rotations and experience as an incident commander is a plus.
- Strong empathy, collaboration, and communication skills in English.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction without relying on authority.
