Base Salary

$80k - $120k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, integrate, and test edge and embedded software for industrial automation, networking, and enterprise platforms.
  • Translate program requirements into embedded-system designs and implementation plans.
  • Develop firmware and application software in C/C++ for resource-constrained, real-time platforms.
  • Build and automate unit, integration, hardware-in-the-loop, and system-level test plans.
  • Support transition of research prototypes into GE Vernova product platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, government partners, national laboratories, universities, and strategic partners.
  • Contribute to proposals, technical reports, program reviews, and research program milestones.
  • Apply secure-by-design principles and cybersecurity practices throughout the embedded-software lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1–5 years of relevant industry experience, including at least 1 year of professional experience in embedded systems, firmware, or edge software development.
  • Proficiency in embedded software development using C and/or C++.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, microprocessors, system-on-chip platforms, and hardware interfaces such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, or Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols including Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, IEC 61850, MQTT, or BACnet, and serialization formats including Protocol Buffers or JSON.
  • Experience with Linux systems or real-time operating systems and the embedded development lifecycle.
  • Preferred qualifications include industrial control systems, RTOS scheduling, bare-metal development, edge-to-cloud applications, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, embedded cybersecurity, JavaScript or TypeScript, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, FPGA/ASIC design, digital logic, Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL, and functional verification.
  • Must be willing to work from the GE Vernova office in Niskayuna, New York.
