Base Salary
$250k - $500k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement low-latency backend services powering Polymarket’s core exchange.
- Profile and tune systems for latency, throughput, and memory efficiency.
- Build and maintain event-driven data pipelines and APIs using Kafka, Pulsar, or similar streaming platforms.
- Own production reliability by diagnosing incidents, writing postmortems, and shipping preventative fixes.
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and data engineers to integrate exchange services with the broader platform.
- Contribute to distributed-systems architecture focused on failure modes, graceful degradation, and recovery from partial outages.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional backend development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Go, Python, or Java, with Go experience preferred.
- Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and memory management applied to production systems.
- Experience building and debugging high-throughput, low-latency systems on Linux from design through production operation.
- Strong focus on correctness, defensive programming, edge cases, and financially consequential production failures.
- Ability to work independently in a high-autonomy environment.
- Experience in trading systems, high-frequency trading, gaming, telecom, or other latency-constrained domains is a plus.
- Production experience with Kafka, Pulsar, or similar streaming platforms at meaningful scale is a plus.
- Familiarity with gRPC, Protobuf, or ZeroMQ is a plus.
- Experience deploying and operating cloud services on AWS or GCP using containers and modern deployment tooling is a plus.
