Responsibilities
- Own, build, operate, and define the technical strategy for a technically deep system with organization-wide reach.
- Make consequential decisions about what to build, scale, or stop on ambiguous, high-stakes problems and own the outcomes.
- Apply systems thinking across ownership boundaries and pursue end-to-end fixes even when they involve systems owned by others.
- Scope and build high-leverage solutions, using agents as a workforce where appropriate.
- Instrument systems for adoption and usage and validate delivered value with data-backed standards.
- Mentor engineers toward owning highly complex systems and scale personal judgment into others.
- Identify and mitigate engineering, security, data, and AI-specific risks before release, including misuse, jailbreaks, unintended capability, and data exposure.
- Lead adoption of new techniques from discovery, spikes, and prototypes through proof of concept and hardened production.
- Build and own evaluation and validation infrastructure for AI-assisted or AI-native systems.
- Document systems precisely enough for other teams to consume them without recurring coordination meetings.
Requirements
- Demonstrated track record of being the de facto owner of a problem space on which most of an organization depends, earned through building and operating it.
- Experience mentoring other Frontier Engineers toward ownership of highly complex systems.
- Experience taking a technique from a research paper or external source through prototype, proof of concept, and safety-reviewed production rollout.
- Understanding of AI capabilities and limitations, responsible AI, data classification, privacy, and advanced prompting practices.
- Ability to apply elevated scrutiny to agent-produced code and evolving AI-specific vulnerability classes.
- Must hold valid right to work in the United States.
