Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and troubleshoot Java and Spring Boot services and supporting components.
- Build and maintain secure, scalable backend services and APIs with strong performance, resiliency, and maintainability.
- Create design artifacts covering processing logic, dependencies, failure handling, service-level objectives, and resiliency patterns.
- Apply distributed-systems practices such as idempotency, retries, timeouts, back-pressure, and graceful degradation.
- Collaborate with product, quality assurance, site reliability engineering, and partner engineering teams.
- Improve code reviews, test strategy, continuous integration and delivery, observability, and operational readiness.
- Contribute to internal libraries and engineering communities and evaluate emerging technologies.
- Use enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation tools while validating generated outputs for quality and security.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and applied experience.
- Strong production experience developing Java backends with Spring Boot.
- Experience designing scalable, secure services using microservices and API-driven architectures.
- Strong fundamentals in object-oriented programming, design patterns, concurrency, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Experience with unit and integration testing, automation, and code-quality practices.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL, including data modeling and transactional concepts.
- Familiarity with agile delivery, enterprise controls, continuous integration and delivery, resiliency, security, observability, and monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and validating AI-generated outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, and engineering resiliency and security expectations.
- Preferred: experience with Python or PySpark for batch jobs, reconciliation pipelines, or platform integrations.
- Preferred: experience with Databricks, Airflow, streaming and event-driven systems, cloud services, and payment regulatory reporting workflows.
