Responsibilities
- Develop sophisticated perception software for a custom-hardware automation system using deep learning, computer vision, and control algorithms.
- Improve robot perception using RGB, depth, and other sensor data from deployed systems in dynamic retail environments.
- Research, implement, refine, and customize perception algorithms, including object detection, segmentation, keypoint detection, and 3D pose estimation and reconstruction.
- Optimize model performance for speed and latency, including network-layer optimization and deployment on constrained hardware.
- Analyze data and outcomes, collect new data, and continuously improve algorithmic performance quantitatively.
- Deploy robust and safe systems within defined timelines and collaborate with automation engineers on executive-team priorities.
- Break down abstract company goals into actionable tasks and manage an independent delivery timeline.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience developing perception systems or equivalent experience, including academic research.
- Extensive experience with low-level computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning, including implementing state-of-the-art methods from scratch.
- Proficiency in Python and commonly used libraries including PyTorch, OpenCV, NumPy, and SciKit.
- Experience working with RGB and depth sensors or multi-sensor setups such as RGB plus LiDAR.
- Familiarity with data augmentation techniques.
- Experience customizing deep learning applications for object detection or segmentation, keypoint detection, and 3D pose estimation or reconstruction.
- Experience optimizing model performance for speed and latency, including network-layer optimization, TensorRT, or TorchScript.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and issue-monitoring abilities.
- Preferred experience with modern C++, ROS, camera calibration, hand-eye calibration, computer vision or robotics research, synthetic dataset generation, domain randomization, manipulators, motion planning and execution, signal processing, or network communication.
- Preferred experience with Open3D, Point Cloud Library, MMDetection, FastAI, Blender, OpenGL, Isaac Sim, or MuJoCo.
