Responsibilities
- Design and implement controls modules for autonomous off-road vehicle navigation.
- Characterize customer vehicle dynamics and create tailored controls solutions that reduce simulation-to-real-world gaps.
- Evaluate academic research and develop optimal-control solutions using nonlinear MPC and MPPI control.
- Test and optimize high-performance controls software under critical timing, thermal, and power constraints.
- Collaborate with customer engineers and manage customer relationships.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience building production software using modern software practices.
- Hands-on experience testing controls solutions on real, production-grade vehicles.
- Fluency in differential equations, numerical optimization, numerical analysis, and physics.
- Passion for solving challenging controls problems across a wide range of vehicles and off-road environments.
- Preferred: MSc or PhD in mechanical engineering or computer science with controls coursework or research experience.
- Preferred: Experience writing safety-critical C++ compliant with guidelines such as MISRA and AUTOSAR.
- Preferred: Experience with quadratic programming solvers and nonlinear optimization tools such as OSQP, SCS, and CasADi.
- Preferred: Experience applying machine learning to vehicle dynamics modeling.
- Preferred: Experience writing high-performance C++ code.
- Preferred: Experience working with large industrial vehicles in off-road environments.
