Responsibilities

  • Design and implement controls modules for autonomous off-road vehicle navigation.
  • Characterize customer vehicle dynamics and create tailored controls solutions that reduce simulation-to-real-world gaps.
  • Evaluate academic research and develop optimal-control solutions using nonlinear MPC and MPPI control.
  • Test and optimize high-performance controls software under critical timing, thermal, and power constraints.
  • Collaborate with customer engineers and manage customer relationships.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience building production software using modern software practices.
  • Hands-on experience testing controls solutions on real, production-grade vehicles.
  • Fluency in differential equations, numerical optimization, numerical analysis, and physics.
  • Passion for solving challenging controls problems across a wide range of vehicles and off-road environments.
  • Preferred: MSc or PhD in mechanical engineering or computer science with controls coursework or research experience.
  • Preferred: Experience writing safety-critical C++ compliant with guidelines such as MISRA and AUTOSAR.
  • Preferred: Experience with quadratic programming solvers and nonlinear optimization tools such as OSQP, SCS, and CasADi.
  • Preferred: Experience applying machine learning to vehicle dynamics modeling.
  • Preferred: Experience writing high-performance C++ code.
  • Preferred: Experience working with large industrial vehicles in off-road environments.

Benefits

  • Primarily in-office work five days per week, with occasional remote-work flexibility and schedule adjustments for personal commitments.
