Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and production delivery of LLM-based and agentic systems across Sales, Service, and Supply Chain.
- Build assistants, tool-using agents, document and data extraction pipelines, shared services, and platform components.
- Deliver conversational experiences across web, in-app chat, email, and SMS, including context carry-over, threading, handoff, and channel-appropriate tone.
- Translate business problems into engineering plans and work directly with stakeholders to sequence delivery.
- Implement AI safety controls including guardrails, identity-aware access, prompt governance, and trust boundaries.
- Own MCP servers and internal tool interfaces with versioned, permissioned, and testable contracts.
- Define evaluation datasets, regression suites, tracing, telemetry, and quality gates for prompt and model changes.
- Optimize AI unit economics through routing, context trimming, caching, batching, retrieval, cost, and latency controls.
- Integrate AI systems with ERP, supplier, service, CRM, logistics, and planning systems.
- Set engineering standards, mentor engineers, review designs, and lead technical work across distributed teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building and operating production software and 3+ years owning the technical direction of a team or significant platform.
- Strong Python skills and distributed systems fundamentals, with experience owning services end to end after deployment.
- Production experience with LLM applications, including retrieval-augmented generation, agents, tool calling, structured output, streaming, and prompt iteration under load.
- Hands-on experience with LLM engineering tools such as Langfuse or LangSmith for tracing, prompt versioning, evaluation, and production monitoring.
- Experience building and consuming MCP servers, designing tool schemas, and handling authentication and permissions at tool boundaries.
- Practical experience optimizing LLM costs through model routing, context and prompt compression, caching, batching, and token budgeting.
- Experience delivering AI through customer and employee communication channels such as chat, email, and SMS.
- Ability to evaluate hosted models, managed services, and fine-tuning options based on cost, latency, and accuracy.
- Strong AWS engineering experience or equivalent, including serverless and container workloads, event-driven design, IAM, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with relational, document, and vector data layers and maintaining retrieval accuracy at scale.
- Experience designing AI evaluation programs and building evaluation harnesses before scaling features.
- Experience working with non-technical stakeholders and translating business intent into system design.
- Preferred experience includes automotive, manufacturing, logistics, SAP, supply chain execution, EDI, field service, CRM, messaging, contact center platforms, security-sensitive AI, multi-agent orchestration, and distributed teams across US and India time zones.
