
Software Engineering Manager

Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for engineering teams delivering BRx Platform capabilities, shared frameworks, reusable services, and integration patterns.
- Own technical design, implementation approaches, engineering quality, architecture decisions, and production software delivery.
- Design, develop, review, test, debug, document, and implement platform services and application capabilities.
- Partner with product, architecture, operations, engineering, and business stakeholders to refine requirements and delivery plans.
- Define and promote engineering practices, frameworks, patterns, observability, and developer productivity improvements.
- Lead design reviews, code reviews, backlog refinement, estimation, technical decomposition, sprint planning, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor engineers and SDETs through technical coaching, pairing, design feedback, and professional-growth support.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical and operational issues across platform capabilities and dependent systems.
- Define service-level objectives and contribute to L3 support, incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and on-call readiness.
- Communicate technical decisions, delivery risks, progress, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including technical design and delivery leadership for complex applications or platform services.
- Experience as a technical lead, senior engineer, architect, or equivalent, with influence over engineering decisions across teams.
- Preferred hands-on experience with Java, Spring, Kafka, Camunda, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
- Experience with distributed systems, API design, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native or platform engineering practices is highly valued.
- Ability to contribute directly to the codebase, lead design and code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and unblock critical delivery work.
- Ability to collaborate with product managers, architects, engineers, operations teams, and business stakeholders.
- Experience defining service-level objectives, supporting production applications, participating in L3 on-call rotations, and driving reliability improvements.
- Strong ability to explain complex technical concepts, architecture decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly.
