Responsibilities
- Develop large-scale HD mapping systems using camera, LiDAR, GNSS/IMU, and vehicle telemetry.
- Build scalable pipelines that fuse observations from millions of fleet-driven miles into continuously improving maps.
- Design multi-route and multi-vehicle map alignment, optimization, and crowdsourced mapping solutions.
- Create automated pipelines for lane geometry, road boundaries, traffic controls, crosswalks, speed limits, and localization landmarks.
- Develop map validation, quality-control, change-detection, and update systems for production map assets.
- Apply machine learning, Spatial AI, and foundation models to map creation, semantic understanding, anomaly detection, and quality evaluation.
- Design and operate cloud-based mapping platforms processing petabyte-scale fleet data.
- Optimize distributed infrastructure and establish engineering standards, validation frameworks, and operational monitoring.
- Lead complex technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Geospatial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of industry experience developing large-scale mapping, localization, SLAM, robotics, or autonomous driving systems.
- Expert-level software development skills in C++ and Python.
- Deep knowledge of SLAM, multi-view geometry, bundle adjustment, pose graph optimization, sensor fusion, state estimation, and geospatial systems.
- Experience processing large-scale camera, LiDAR, GNSS, IMU, and vehicle telemetry datasets.
- Experience building production cloud services and distributed processing pipelines.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives across organizations.
- Preferred experience with fleet-scale mapping systems, crowdsourced mapping, HD map generation, lane graphs, localization maps, map lifecycle management, map compilation, map distribution, and incremental map updates.
- Preferred experience with Spark, Ray, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or similar large-scale compute platforms.
- Publications or patents related to mapping, localization, SLAM, or autonomous driving are preferred.
