Base Salary
$300k - $400k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and operationalize SLOs and SLIs across critical user journeys.
- Participate in on-call rotation, improve incident response, lead blameless postmortems, and drive follow-up actions.
- Build resilient systems around external dependencies using timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, and fallback strategies.
- Develop end-to-end observability with logs, metrics, traces, and dashboards.
- Improve deployment safety through CI/CD enhancements, automated rollbacks, canary releases, and feature flags.
- Contribute to infrastructure architecture decisions involving serverless, containerized, and managed approaches.
- Improve cost visibility and efficiency through request-level attribution, caching, and capacity planning.
- Contribute production code, internal platform tooling, system design, and engineering practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years building and operating production systems where reliability and scaling are important.
- Strong software engineering skills and the ability to build and ship production code.
- Experience with AWS or GCP, serverless or event-driven architectures, and at least one container-based approach such as ECS/Fargate, Cloud Run, or Kubernetes.
- Understanding of observability, reliability practices, metrics, alerting, tracing, and incident response.
- Experience designing resilient systems with external dependencies, including idempotency and circuit breakers.
- Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly across engineering domains.
- Experience building internal platform abstractions, improving reliability metrics, reducing infrastructure costs, or working in startup and high-growth environments is preferred.
