Base Salary
$200k - $500k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture of Mercor's shared backend systems.
- Define and drive the long-term technical strategy for backend architecture.
- Design systems for scale, reliability, and evolvability.
- Identify and pay down architectural debt that slows product teams.
- Establish backend engineering standards and best practices.
- Prototype critical systems and ship production code.
- Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar.
- Partner with engineering and product leadership on technical decisions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
- 3+ years operating at a Senior level or above.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, service architecture, and API design.
- Experience leading large, complex technical migrations in production.
- Strong opinions, loosely held, with excellent communication skills.
- Fluent in modern AI development tools to improve productivity.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers.
