Responsibilities
- Design, plan, implement, administer, and maintain the Apigee Hybrid API gateway platform and supporting infrastructure.
- Optimize gateway and supporting components for availability, performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Support 24/7 production operations, respond to operational events, and participate in a weekly after-hours on-call rotation.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure- and platform-level issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable remediation.
- Manage platform configurations, runtime versions, patch levels, certificates, and upgrade paths.
- Implement automation and improve security and observability to increase operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, SRE, and development teams on enterprise API initiatives.
- Educate and mentor team members and operations staff on platform functionality and tooling.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in CIS or Computer Science, or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering or IT.
- At least 3 years supporting enterprise-grade applications or platforms in production environments.
- Strong operational understanding of API management platforms, preferably Apigee Hybrid.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Linux operating systems and experience with distributed systems, containers, or Kubernetes-based deployments.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, load balancing, and routing.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
- Familiarity with observability stacks such as Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
- Experience with root-cause analysis, platform troubleshooting, long-term remediation, and scripting in Bash, Python, or similar.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Desired experience with Apigee Hybrid runtime components, API security models, platform upgrades, patch management, Kubernetes objects, GKE, EKS, service mesh concepts, Istio, and Envoy.
