Software Engineer, Data & Observability Platforms — MTS/SMTS

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate telemetry, observability, logging, and alerting systems for real-time system health, reliability, and performance visibility.
- Develop proactive, AI- and agent-assisted issue detection, investigation, and root-cause analysis capabilities.
- Build data pipelines and platform services integrating Workday, Salesforce, and other enterprise systems.
- Enable operational workflows, reporting, analytics, and AI use cases through reliable, secure, and governed data.
- Develop scalable infrastructure and services primarily on AWS, with some workloads on GCP.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, security scanning, vulnerability checks, and quality gates.
- Partner with engineering, security, data, Employee Success, and Finance teams to improve platform capabilities, developer experience, data reliability, and operational intelligence.
- Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, technical planning, and documentation.
- At the SMTS level, lead complex technical initiatives, influence architecture and standards, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Professional software development experience building and operating production systems.
- Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go.
- Experience with or strong interest in observability, telemetry, logging, alerting, data pipelines, or data platforms.
- Familiarity with open-source technologies, modern software engineering practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and foundational security or vulnerability-management practices.
- Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS; GCP experience is a plus.
- Understanding of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and system-design principles.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering and business teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- MTS candidates typically have 3–5 years of professional software development experience or equivalent demonstrated capability.
- SMTS candidates typically have 8 or more years of professional software development experience or equivalent demonstrated capability.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with AI or agentic observability, enterprise-system integrations, MuleSoft, Kubernetes, Terraform, or CloudFormation.

- The role offers a base salary range of $117,200–$223,900 annually, or $141,200–$246,000 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan locations.
